President Muhammadu Buhari presented a N6.08 trillion budget before a joint session of the National Assembly at the end of December.
About a week ago, reports surfaced that the president allegedly withdrew the budget. He was said to have written to the National Assembly requesting to withdraw the budget proposal to amend some figures.
But some senators quickly debunked the report, saying it was impossible.
The Senate leader, Senator Ali Ndume, explained that the budget proposal was not a document that could be withdrawn just anyhow, saying it was impossible for the president to withdraw it after presenting it to the National Assembly.
The alleged budget withdrawal was just the beginning of the drama as two days ago, another report surfaced that 2016 budget had gone missing from the National Assembly.
Reacting to the report, Senate president, Bukola Saraki said the Senate was making inquiry into the alleged disappearance of the 2016 budget.
Although Ndume has said it is impossible for the 2016 budget document to go missing, the presidency has asked Nigerians to hold the National Assembly responsible.
