Former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki was placed under arrest last November for diverting money from the $2,1 bln slush fund, initially meant to aid in the fight against Boko Haram.
As the $2.1 bln scandal rages on, the EFCC continues to roll out new numbers and reveals new details to the general public.
The new list sums up another chapter of investigative efforts and accuses several high-standing officials of receiving a total of N5,477 bln from Sambo Dasuki.
The list includes several retired governors: Peter Odili (N100m), Rashidi Ladoja (N100m), Attahiru Bafarawa (N100m), Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi (N100m), and Jim Nwobodo (N500m).
Others beneficiaries are: Chief Tony Anenih (N260m); ex-PDP National Chairman Ahmadu Ali (N100m); Chief Bode George (N100m/$30,000), Yerima Abdullahi (N100m); Chief Olu Falae (N100m); Tanko Yakassai (N63m); Gen. Bello Sarkin Yaki(N200m); Raymond Dokpesi, Iyorchia Ayu’s company (N345m); BAM Properties (N300m); Dalhatu Investment Limited (N1.5b); ex-PDP National Chairman Mohammed Bello Haliru, Abba Mohammed, Sagir Attahiru, serving and former members of the House of Representatives (over N600 million); former Chairman of the House of Representatives on Security and Intelligence, Bello Matawalle (N300m); ACACIA Holdings (N600m); Bashir Yuguda (N1,950,000) and many companies.
This development has already caused a stir in the ranks of the Social Democratic Party, which has earlier dissociated itself from the N100 mln collected by Olu Falae, its national leader, who later confessed that the money was for him and his party, aimed to support the former president Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election attempt.
He said: “It is true I received the money for the party and then it was distributed to the state branches of the party for onward distribution to other levels of the party… The money came through the party’s account and it was through this account that the monies were distributed.”
At this point the EFCC has declared an amnesty policy, which allows all those involved to refund embezzled funds, or face trial if they refuse to do so.
