A female banker, Gloria Omoregie, has been ‘spiritually attacked’ to defraud the wife of an aide to the governor of Edo state.
Omoregie who works with an old generation bank located along Airport road in Benin City, Edo state, was nabbed over allegedly trying to defraud Mrs Kadiri, who is the wife of an aide to Governor Adams Oshiomhole, on Monday, January 19.
When apprehended, the suspect was said to have confessed to the purported crime and blamed it on a “spiritual attack”. Omoregie was said to have ‘convinced’ her victim whose husband is the special adviser on security to Governor Oshiomhole, to put about Fifteen million naira in fixed deposit, telling her she could enjoy some profit on a monthly basis.
The suspect convinced Mrs Kadiri that her money could be accessed whenever she needed it. The purported scam was allegedly uncovered when the lady demanded access to her money, and she was told that the money had been lent out to the bank’s cooperative society, which left her suspicious.
It was allegedly discovered that the bank didn’t run any cooperative society, leaving the said money missing without a trace, after Omoregie had handed in her resignation letter to the bank.
