Apex Igbo socio cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo yesterday descended on the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka over his New Year prophecy that President Buhari’s life is in danger, saying the Catholic priest has become a distraction in the Nigerian polity.

President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Anambra State and the coordinating Chairman of Ohanaeze in the seven Igbo speaking states, Elder Chris Eluemunor at a media briefing yesterday, in Awka, said contrary to Fr. Mbaka’s prophecy, President Buhari, as the Commander-in-Chief was in safe hands.  He said Buhari was doing a good work by fighting corruption while Ohanaeze fully supports  his anti graft war.

“Fr. Mbaka should really shut up and preach the word of God which he was  ordained to do than raising unnecessary alarm and creating panic in the country. Even if a revelation was given to him, he should keep it to himself and pray over it. Fr Mbaka’s statement is a distraction to what the President is doing and he should stop the kind of alarm he is raising in the country.”
The Ohanaeze boss said Nigerians should realise that it was no longer business as usual in the country and expressed optimism that with the way Mr. President was going, sanity will soon return to the country resulting in financial probity and restoration in the decline of economic fortunes.
Ohanaeze also cautioned the President to ensure that the anti-corruption crusade should have human face and also fought within the ambit of the law.
On the issue of the struggle and protests by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Eluemunor said Ohanaeze is satisfied with the discontinuation of further protests and violent struggle by the group.
He said that Ohanaeze is commending members of the group for their attitude  so far and revealed that there is an ongoing dialogue with the Presidency over the continued detention of Nnamdi Kalu among other issues while there are strong indications that something positive is in the offing soonest. He disclosed that there are promises that issues of marginalization of the south east will be addressed by the present government during the implementation of the 2016 budget.
He predicted that Nnamdi Kalu will be released soon to Igbo elders while he admonished that the IPOB and other pro Biafra groups to function as pressure groups in the country and not organizations seeking for a separate or secessionist target.
He said that Ndigbo are not ready for separation yet as the Igbo man continues to invest in other parts of the country.
Ohanaeze also called for federal government support to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) for the benefit of the South East noting that the electricity distribution company is the Igbo share from the unbundled Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).
He called for the reconciliation of the conflict between the EEDC and another private power generating firm in Abia state so that the people of Aba will not continue to suffer energy crisis.
